Environment

Services related to environmental issues have been a major focus
of research at JFA for more than a decade. Past projects include
evaluating alternatives for reducing cancer in communities located
near plants emitting radioactive pollutants, updating the
Environmental Protection Agency’s automobile regulation cost
calculation model, and training state and local officials in the
enforcement of environmental law. JFA has a particularly strong and
growing climate change practice. Current services in the
environmental area include:
- Analyzing economic effects of regulations
- Evaluating enforcement techniques and their costs
- Examining the costs and benefits of pollution control
technologies
- Assessing the value of flood and erosion control activities
- Evaluating the effects of environmental policies on other
national objectives and programs
